How to Write a Student CV With No Work Experience
A practical CV template and structure for students and recent graduates with little or no formal work experience.
Reorder the standard CV With no work experience, the order becomes: 1. Header & contact 2. Short summary (2 lines: who you are + what you're looking for) 3. Education (degree, university, dates, GPA if strong, relevant coursework) 4. Projects (academic, personal, hackathons) 5. Volunteer & extracurricular 6. Skills 7. Languages & interests (optional)
Projects = your experience A solid GitHub repo, a class project, a hackathon, or a freelance gig all count. Describe each like a job: - What you built - The technologies / methods - The outcome
Use our Student Fresh template We built a template specifically for this structure — see the [Student Fresh template](/templates/student-fresh).
